Gregory Messier Back to Artists |
From his early years, Greg was interested in wildlife and its habitat. Many
years were spent as a child eagerly accompanying his family on outdoor outings.
At age 11 and 12, his winters were spent in the wild, trapping game. These
hours in the field increaed his knowledge and feeling for the moods of the
waterfowl and upland game.
Developing his art skills in high school and
through commercial art training at a local community college, Greg worked at
many jobs in this field until finally turning to his true love - wildlife
painting. He is happiest working in watercolor, as it lends itself to the soft
colors of an evening or morning sky. In 1981, a one-man exhibit at the
Crossroads of Sports Gallery brought him increased recognition. His desire is
to bring a little of the happiness that the animal kingdom has given him, and
mirror it back through his paintings for others to enjoy for years to come. |
